Nestlé Purina PetCare unveils $31m investment in NSW

Back to Press releases

Nestlé Purina PetCare, the world’s largest pet food manufacturer, today officially unveiled its state-of-the-art $31 million factory upgrade at its Blayney plant, in the central west of NSW. The substantial investment makes the factory – the biggest employer in Blayney - one of the leading facilities of its type in the world.

The upgrade, which began in 2011 and will be finalised at the end of this year, includes the installation of world class equipment and a 5400 square metre warehouse, putting the Blayney factory at the forefront of global innovation for the company.

As a result of the investment, 17 jobs have been created over the last two years and the warehouse project provided work for 80 subcontractors during construction. In unveiling the upgrade, Member for Bathurst, Mr Paul Toole, said the investment was a huge confidence booster for regional Australia.

“To have an international company such as Nestlé Purina PetCare make this kind of investment in Blayney sends a very good signal that NSW is ready and willing to do business to help create jobs and security for its people,” Mr Toole said.

“We are extremely pleased that Nestlé Purina PetCare has decided to make its Blayney factory one of the most technologically advanced among its many manufacturing sites globally – this is great news for our region.” Factory manager, Mr Joe Meintjes, said the latest investment showed Nestlé’s long-term commitment to its operations in the central west of NSW.

“This significant capital expenditure will boost future product development and brings the factory and its capabilities into the 21st century with its world-class technology,” Mr Meintjes said.

“At Nestlé we take our responsibilities to the communities and the environments we operate in very seriously. This is the basis of our Creating Shared Value approach to business.”
