Nestlé Oceania developed a program in 2010 to reach out to local people in PNG, particularly those living in remote villages to help teach them about nutrition, healthy cooking practices and the importance of physical activity.
The PNG-based MAGGI consumer travelling roadshow, Hamamas Dei, which means ‘Happy Day’ visits rural communities, educating people on how to develop healthy balanced eating habits, nutrition and hygiene.
In 2013, the Hamamas Dei Roadshow visited 400 villages, up from 200 in 2012.
A similar style of roadshow also operates in Fiji. The Kana Vinaka team conducts 50 events a year providing education on good dietary practices and to demonstrate how to cook healthy, balanced meals using local vegetables and meats.
