NESTLÉ PURINA PETCARE: Feeding 30,000 dogs and cats over the next three years.
Life for 30,000 dogs and cats living in the eight affiliated Animal Welfare League Australia (AWLA) shelters across the country will get a whole lot better thanks to a commitment by Nestlé Purina Petcare to feed every one of them over the next three years.
The donation will ensure that lonely and unloved dogs and cats will be provided the best nutritional care possible as they await adoption, or to be reunited with existing and new owners.
The cats and dogs are being fed a diet of Australian made Purina Pro Plan, a highly nutritious food containing a powerful combination of essential nutrients.
Already volunteers at the shelters are reporting that the dogs and cats are eating more eagerly and not leaving food in their bowls. They are also witnessing that the undernourished animals are gaining weight at a good rate along with healthier looking coats, teeth and eyes.
“We couldn’t care for the thousands of animals that rely on us without the support of the community and Nestlé Purina Petcare – we are truly grateful and believe it’s already making a huge difference, said Anne Boxhall, Executive Officer, AWLA.
Purina Petcare spokesperson Fran Hernon said: “It’s a sad fact that thousands of dogs and cats are abandoned or put up for adoption in Australia every year. Adopting a dog or cat from an AWLA shelter can be hugely rewarding and gives deserving pets a second chance at finding a loving home.
“Partnering with Animal Welfare League Australia is just one part of Purina’s broader commitment to ensuring that animals in shelters, as well as homes, receive quality nutrition and care,” Ms Hernon said.
