Australian cricket stars help launch MILO junior cricket program

Back to Press releases

Excited school kids have tested their cricketing skills against some of Australia’s great cricketers at the Sydney Cricket Ground Indoor Cricket Centre today for the launch of the exciting MILO in2CRICKET and MILO T20 Blast junior cricket programs.

Michael Clarke, Meg Lanning, Brad Haddin, Nathan Lyon, Peter Nevill, and Rene Farrell took part in a range of activities with girls and boys at the launch of the junior cricket programs.

The MILO in2CRICKET and MILO T20 Blast programs give kids a fast paced and fun introduction to cricket, with more than 50,000 boys and girls around Australia taking part in the programs last year alone.

The MILO in2CRICKET program is designed for boys and girls from 5 to 8 years old. It is a fast and fun program that emphasises participation, basic motor skills and teaches the basics of cricket, all in sessions that last just one hour.

MILO T20 Blast gives kids aged 7 to 12 their first experience of playing games of cricket in a fun, safe and social setting. The program has a maximum playing time of 90 minutes, an exciting atmosphere complete with music and dancing, and everyone gets a chance to bat, bowl and field.

Recently retired Australian captain and MILO ambassador Michael Clarke said it was great to see so many kids get involved in the Milo cricket programs.

“It is great to have helped launch MILO in2CRICKET and MILO T20 Blast for the year and to see more than 100 kids here today having fun practicing their bowling, batting and fielding skills,” said Clarke.

“MILO has been a great supporter of grassroots cricket for many years now and it is fantastic to have these programs that inspire the next generation of Australian cricketers and fans.”

Rebecca Dobbins, Head of Marketing Nestlé Beverages said she was proud of MILO’s continued commitment to grassroots cricket and encouraging active and healthy habits in Australian kids.

“MILO has been a part of the cricket journey for millions of kids around Australia and it is exciting to be launching the MILO T20 Blast and MILO in2CRICKET programs again for this year. We hope even more young cricketers will get out and give cricket a go this summer and perhaps it will be the starting place for the next Michael Clarke or Meg Lanning,” said Ms Dobbins.
