Q: I have been overseas and was able to get a certain NESTLÉ product or variety of a NESTLÉ product over there but I have not seen it/them in Australia. Is there any way of purchasing the product through NESTLÉ?

A: Unfortunately, many NESTLÉ products that are available overseas are not available for sale in Australia. Consumer tastes can vary greatly from country to country and hence the NESTLÉ product range will also. We constantly review our range of products and if research indicates that a product will be popular in Australia, we may introduce this to our range. However, some NESTLÉ overseas products may be imported independently and therefore sometimes available through specialty shops, such as lolly shops and gourmet delis.

Q: Where can I buy a particular product?

A: The majority of our products are in full national distribution and therefore available at most supermarkets. However, it is the retailers who decide which products go to their individual stores. Therefore, it can be difficult to provide specific details of shops stocking our products. We can try to assist you if you contact our Consumer Services Department on 1800 025 361, or alternatively, you may like to ask the Grocery Manager of your store if they are able to stock the product for you.

Q: Can I buy products directly from you?

A: Unfortunately, we do not sell directly to the public.

Q: How can I buy your products in bulk?

A: To buy products in bulk, you would need to contact a wholesaler or distributor and would be required to have an ABN. For a list of distributors of Nestlé products, please visit our Nestlé Professional website at www.nestleprofessional.com.au. We would then recommend that you contact a wholesaler in your area and discuss with them the possibility of purchasing the product that you require.

Q: I would like to install a NESCAFÉ vending machine in my business / office. What do I need to do?

A: Nestlé has available a wide range of vending machines including benchtop machines. For information about these, please visit “Soluble Beverage Solutions” located under the "Beverage Expertise" area of our Nestlé Professional website www.nestleprofessional.com.au. To arrange for a company representative to speak with you and discuss your options please contact Nestlé Professional during business hours on 1800 20 30 50 and select option 2.

Q: I am opening/have a store and I would like to order ice creams.

A: PETERS Telesales can arrange for a rep to visit your store, or for existing customer orders and enquiries, please contact our Telesales line 131 077.

Q: Where can I buy single serve sachets of NESCAFÉ coffee and NESTLÉ Hot Chocolate Complete Mix?

A: As these products are particularly designed for the Foodservice area they are only stocked by catering suppliers or wholesale grocers. You need to be the holder of an ABN to be able to purchase these products from a distributor or wholesaler. We would recommend that you visit our Nestlé Professional website www.nestleprofessional.com.au where you will find a list of distributors of these types of products.

As an alternative, you may wish to try NESCAFE Café Menu coffee sachets, or NESTLÉ Double Blend Hot Chocolate, which are similar products available in the retail market.

Q: What method do you use to decaffeinate NESCAFÉ coffees?

A: A water decaffeination process is used in the production of NESCAFÉ decaffeinated coffees sold in Australia. For further information on this process, please click here.

Cooking Related Questions

Q: I have a can of NESTLÉ Top ‘N’ Fill, how do I use it? Does it need to be cooked?

A: NESTLÉ Top‘N’ Fill has been designed to be used straight from the can and does not require further cooking. Heating the product will cause it to thin out and hence go runny.

Q: Can I whip CARNATION Light & Creamy Evaporated Milk?

A: The CARNATION Light & Creamy Evaporated Milk cannot be whipped like the CARNATION Creamy Evaporated Milk as it has a lower fat content. It is the fat that is needed to hold the air bubbles when whipping it.

Q: Can I whip NESTLÉ Reduced Cream?

A: Unfortunately, this product is not suitable for whipping due to its lower fat content.

Q: I used to have a recipe for mayonnaise using the CARNATION/NESTLÉ Sweetened Condensed Milk, but I can’t find my copy of it. How do I make it?

A: 1 x 395g can CARNATION/NESTLÉ Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 tsp salt
1 cup white vinegar
2 tsp dry mustard
Combine all ingredients together in a bowl, stir until mayonnaise thickens.

Q: For many years I boiled the cans of CARNATION/NESTLÉ Sweetened Condensed Milk to make caramel but I understand it is no longer recommended, as it is not safe. Is there another way to make caramel?

A: 1 x 395g can CARNATION/NESTLÉ Sweetened Condensed Milk
30g butter
2 Tbsp golden syrup
Combine all three ingredients in a saucepan and stir over a moderate heat until boiling. Stir constantly for a further 5- 7 minutes until it thickens.

Q: I have used the CARNATION Light and Creamy Coconut Flavoured Evaporated Milk as a substitute for regular coconut milk in my curry, but it has separated and curdled. Why?

A: CARNATION Light and Creamy Coconut Flavoured Evaporated Milk is ideal for use in cooking, as it is a low fat alternative to traditional coconut milk without compromising the flavour. As traditional coconut milk is high in fat it can therefore be simmered for a longer period of time. Because the CARNATION Light and Creamy Coconut Flavoured Evaporated Milk product has had 98.5% of the fat removed, it is important to ensure the product is added last and simmered for only a few minutes, otherwise the milk will begin to separate.

Q: I am melting chocolate for dipping and it has gone lumpy, thick and pasty, can it be fixed?

A: Any form of moisture will actually cause the chocolate to become very thick and seize. Care should be taken when melting chocolate in a double boiler over the stove so that steam or moisture does not get into the chocolate. Chocolate can also go thick and pasty if it is heated to high, so if using the microwave to melt it, make sure that the chocolate is stirred between short cooking intervals of about 30 seconds. Unfortunately, once chocolate has become this consistency, it cannot be remelted or used.

Nutrition Related Questions

Q: I have allergies to some ingredients. How will I know if specific NESTLÉ products will be suitable for me?

A: NESTLÉ Australia follows the Foods Standards Code when labelling our products. If there are cereals containing gluten, Crustacea, peanuts and tree nuts, fish, soy, sesame, milk egg and Sulphites greater than 10mg/kg present in a product, this will be listed in the ingredients list. Where an ingredient is derived from one of these, this will also be labelled in the ingredients.

On occasion, a product may not contain one of the allergens above, however it is manufactured on the same equipment that processes products that do contain these allergens. This may result in what is known as “cross-contamination” and hence there could be small amounts of the allergen in a product. Where this is the case, NESTLÉ will state “Made on equipment that also processes products containing ……” following the ingredients list.

This statement, together with the ingredients, list will help you make an informed decision about whether the product is suitable for you. We would always recommend that you check the ingredients list of our products prior to purchase if you have an allergy as we are constantly trying to improve our products and this may result in changes to the ingredients list. Click here to view our current allergen lists.

Q: Does MILO contain caffeine? How does it compare to the amount of caffeine in NESCAFÉ Coffee?

Q: What is the quantity of caffeine in your NESCAFÉ decaffeinated coffees?

A: They contain no more than 3mg of caffeine per serve. A standard serve of NESCAFÉ contains on average 62mg of caffeine. For the amount of caffeine in our other NESCAFÉ products, please click here and then onto the nutrition table for each product. For further information on caffeine and the content in commonly consumed foods and drinks, please refer to our Fact Sheet on caffeine.

Q: Is the gelatine used in Nestlé products Halal?

A: The gelatine used in our ALLENS confectionery (eg. Snakes Alive, Frogs Alive, MINTIES), Violet Crumble and NESTLE PETERS ice-cream is halal, however, this does not mean that the product has halal certification. This is a group of community programs covering a wide diversity of activity and interest in areas of sport, health, education, arts and recreation for many people - enabling them to be the best they can be. Our international website at www.nestle.com also contains some useful student information. If you require marketing information, unfortunately we are unable to provide this as it is considered confidential. However, we can suggest referring to the industry journal publication “Retail World” for information on the many products available for sale and details on market shares in Australia either via www.eretailworld.com.au or through your local library. If it is an annual report that you require, we do not produce one as we are not a public company.
