Kelly Meredith

2000 Nestlé Fellow

"The Nestlé Fellowship in Sports Nutrition at the AIS gave me the opportunity to work with the best Sports Dietitians in Australia. In terms of professional advancement, this experience enabled me to gain valuable insight into, and skills in, the nutritional and physiological aspects of elite athletes. Now as a University Lecturer in Exercise and Sports Nutrition, I recommend to my finest students to aim for the Fellowship position as i strongly believe they would benefit greatly from the experience."

Kelly Meredith was the Nestlé Fellow in Sports Nutrition at the Australian Institute of Sport in the year of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

Kelly's primary role during this year was to provide nutrition support to the Men's Basketball Squad, and nutrition information lectures and workshops to all visiting sporting groups.

She was also involved with the AIS-AFL Academy and the Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy in Adelaide. Early in the year Kelly also assisted the AIS Women's Gymnastics Team at their Pre-Olympic Gymnastics Meet in Sydney.

Since leaving the AIS Department of Sports Nutrition, Kelly has worked as a Sports Dietitian for the Queensland Rugby Union and with Queensland Race Training. She also lectures in Exercise and Sports Nutrition in the School of Human Movement Studies at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane.

Kelly has recently embarked on a new path by commencing her PhD within the School of Physiotherapy and Exercise Science at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. She hopes to continue working in the area of sports nutrition by not only improving and adding to her own skills and knowledge, but also by passing on her knowledge to many more athletes and students alike.
