Nestlé Fellow 1999

Ben Desbrow was the Nestlé Fellow in Sports Nutrition at the Australian Institute of Sport in 1999.
Whilst working at the Institute, Ben has been involved in numerous activities including:
- Nutrition servicing to athletes on campus (Coordinator for Men's Basketball);
- Conducting nutrition workshops for National Sports Programs (all visiting teams to the AIS Canberra). Including national senior teams, professional football clubs and junior representative teams from a wide variety of sports.
- Conducting numerous research trials with topics including:
- Fat Adaptation and Endurance Cycling Performance
- The Effect of Caffeine Prior to and Throughout Exercise on Endurance Performance.
- The Effect of Creatine on Elite Level Soccer Performance.
- Co-author Nutrition Publications
Since returning to Brisbane, Ben has completed a Masters in Human Nutrition degree through Deakin University (Melbourne) via distance learning, was a consultant dietitian to the British Olympic Team prior to the Sydney Olympics and presently work as a lecturer in convening the clinical nutrition program at Griffith University on the Gold Coast.
